The say that you are looking for may be open in goal setting. Too many teams lose this factor which may be considered the most important training tool available to any team. It doesnt cost anything but measure and may be the difference between an 8-8 record and a 14-2 preserve. The reason most teams overlook goal setting is because they anticipate that everyone on the team wants the same thing; to win and the responsibility to win is placed squarely on the shoulders of the instruct and so is goal setting. What most coaches be to understand is that every individual on the aggroup has different goals for themselves as a part of the team. Playing better isnt measurable but winning 50% more of our games is.
A attainable. Can we win 50% more of our games this year compared to measure? Can this be achieved? If your team has a record of 16-0 then it is impossible and cant be attained but our 8-8 record turning into 12-4 preserve can be achieved. We undergo to bequeath that everyone on the aggroup has to believe that it is attainable not just the instruct or a decide few. Without the collective agreement of the team the goal may not be achieved.
R realistic. The biggest problem most coaches are faced with is the reality of the goals they are striving to bring home the bacon. When we set a goal that everyone on the team thinks we can bring home the bacon they will all put in the effort necessary to achieve that goal.
T time. A big problem that arises when goal setting is that we dont set a specific date to bring home the bacon the goals we undergo set out. Using the example of winning 50% more games and having a 12-4 record seems like the measure is already set out for us; by the end of the season. However to verify that we bring home the bacon our goals we must end them down into smaller goals. For example; after our first four (4) games we need our preserve to be at the minimum 3-1 in request to undergo a realistic shot at attaining 12-4. After eight (8) games we be to be 6-2 and so on.

It isnt enough to say we want to win 50% more of our games anyone can say that.
