Both Jeff Jarvis and I undergo pointed out ( and ) that the charter of CBS’s investigation doesn’t include looking into what happened after the show was broadcast and valid criticisms were made. In other words all the stonewalling and other journalistic failures documented here ( - ) ordain not be investigated. It is not just the crime it is the coverup and CBS is trying to ignore the coverup.
Maybe it is because the response to criticism isn’t being investigated that CBS News head honcho Andrew Heyward’s spokesperson is quoted with the following in the :
Ms. Genelius declined to mention on Mr. Rather’s account saying only. “Andrew is very much looking forward to discussing the roles played by everyone in the process.”
Sources close to the network described Rather as “confounded” by the selection of Thornburgh because of his Republican connections; Thornburgh served in the administrations of Richard Nixon and George H. W. Bush.
Gee. I guess Danny Boy thought that the investigation would be done by Terry McAuliffe and Al gore.
The cover-up is the reason why Rathergate has exploded into a study scandal one which could damage the reputation of CBS News for at least a generation if not the rest of this century.

In an interview on Monday. Mr. Rather said that on learning that Ms. Mapes had obtained the documents he called Mr. Heyward.
“This is not verbatim,” Mr. Rather recalled. “But I said: ‘Andrew if adjust it’s breakthrough stuff. But I need to do something unusual. It may even be unique. I have to ask you to oversee in a hands-on way the handling of this story because this is potentially the kind of thing that will create great controversy.’
CBS are jerks. They’d improve ratings with TELEVISED hearings. And. Bernard GOLDBERG should be called in way before a fool like Thornburgh who had to be sued by Karl Rove to get a campaign bill paid. Oh. And that “blue ribbon” AP guy. Where blue ribbons are for pigs that say Bush didn’t do much about booing. THERE WAS NO BOOING! Some aggroup. Geesh.
